Hydro Excavation  Services

Aim Underground Utilities is proud to provide hydro excavation services as a compliment to our directional boring services. We have our own hydro vacuum truck so we can handle every step of the directional boring process without having to sub-contract for those services. This means our clients know exactly who they’re working with for the entire directional boring process.

Hydro excavation is often also referred to as suction excavation, hydro vacuum or (hydro vac for short). This is because hydro excavation involves using a large truck that has both a water tank and a large vacuum on it. The water from the truck is used to blast the dirt at high speeds which turns it to a soupy consistency. As that happens the vacuum onboard vacuums the soupy material away from the dig site. The vacuumed material is then used to cover the utilities again once the work is complete.

Hydro Excavation Benefits

We often encounter other utility lines when directional boring for new lines. The best way to prevent damage to these lines is finding their exact location. Hydro excavation allows us to dig with water, rather than shovels or backhoes, to find the utilities. Once we find the utilities, the drill operator can safely bore above or below them. Because we have our own hydro excavation truck, we do not need to hire subcontractors.

Hydro excavation is also more cost-effective and efficient than manual digging, making it a popular choice for contractors and utility companies. It can also be used to remove materials such as rock, soil, and debris from construction sites and other areas. Overall, hydro excavation is a versatile and effective tool for uncovering and removing materials in a variety of settings. These services can also be effective in colder months with the use of warm water.
